Montrose stud is a small boutique stud situated 18 km North of Shepparton, and is approximately 1 3/4 hours drive from Melbourne.

Montrose is run by Kelly McPherson with all ponies being produced and shown both in hand and under saddle by Kelly.

The main emphasis of the stud is to breed a small number of quality up to height Show Hunter riding ponies that are are competitive at a royal, state and national level both in hand and under saddle.

The stud prefix "Montrose" was established in 2002, with "Montrose Royal Ambition" being the first pony registered under the Montrose Prefix, as a small stud we aim to breed only 1-2 foals each year to enable each pony to be shown in hand as youngstock before commencing their careers under saddle.
